Roles & Responsibilities

• Lead the emergency department as charge nurse, coordinating patient flow and assignments during night shifts.
• Deliver high-quality care to emergency, stepdown, and med/surg patients, adapting to fluctuating patient needs.
• Triage and stabilize critically ill or injured patients, managing life-saving interventions calmly and efficiently.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and support staff to create seamless care plans and promote positive outcomes.
• Mentor and support team members while maintaining a safe, compassionate environment for patients and families.
• Document assessments, treatments, and outcomes accurately, ensuring compliance with hospital policies and procedures.

Qualifications

• Active New Hampshire RN license (or ability to obtain before start)
• Minimum 2 years of current Emergency Room experience
• Prior charge nurse experience, with strong leadership skills
• Active American Heart Association BLS, ACLS, and PALS, plus TNCC certification
• Critical Access Hospital experience highly preferred
• Willingness to float to Med/Surg and Stepdown as needed
• Previous travel nursing experience preferred
• Permanent address 50+ miles from the facility (no locals)

Knowledge & Skills

• Expert emergency nursing skills, including triage, stabilization, and rapid assessment
• Charge nurse leadership and delegation abilities
• Comfort caring for stepdown and medical-surgical patients
• Knowledge of advanced cardiac life support, pediatric life support, and trauma nursing
• Strong communication, teamwork, and adaptability in a small critical access hospital
• Ability to stay calm and effective in high-pressure situations
