Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform thorough dental cleanings and prophylaxis for patients
• Conduct oral health assessments and document any abnormalities
• Take and develop dental x-rays for diagnostic purposes
• Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques and preventive care
• Assist the dentist during procedures and ensure patient comfort
• Sterilize and maintain dental instruments and equipment
• Administer local anesthesia when required and as permitted by state regulations
• Maintain accurate and confidential patient records

Qualifications

• Active Dental Hygienist license in the state of Virginia
• Current CPR/BLS certification
• Graduate of an accredited dental hygiene program
• Experience in clinical dental hygiene, preferably in a fast-paced environment
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to work effectively as part of a dental care team

Education

• Associate's degree in Dental Hygiene from an accredited program

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of dental instruments, procedures, and terminology
• Proficiency in taking and interpreting dental radiographs
• Skill in patient education and motivational interviewing
• Understanding of infection control and sterilization protocols
• Ability to maintain accurate patient records and documentation
• Familiarity with dental practice management software
