Roles & Responsibilities

• Scrub for cardiac surgical procedures including CABG and open heart cases with precision and focus
• Prepare and maintain sterile field and instruments for high-acuity cardiac operations
• Anticipate surgeon needs and pass instruments efficiently to support smooth, safe procedures
• Collaborate with circulating nurses, perfusionists, and the surgical team to ensure patient safety
• Assist with equipment setup, counts, and turnover to minimize OR downtime
• Communicate clearly about case progression, supplies, and any patient-specific considerations

Qualifications

• NBSTSA certification required
• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) required
• Minimum 2 years of OR scrub experience (cardiac/CABG experience strongly preferred)
• Proven experience with open heart cases and cardiac instrumentation
• Ability to work weekends and be available for on-call as needed for the unit

Knowledge & Skills

• In-depth knowledge of cardiac surgical procedures (CABG, open heart)
• Strong sterile technique and OR workflow expertise
• Familiarity with cardiac surgical instruments and equipment
• Ability to perform under pressure in a fast-paced OR environment
• Preferred: cross-training or experience scrubing ortho, neuro, and spine cases
