Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, evidence-based labor and delivery nursing care to birthing patients
- Monitor maternal and fetal status using appropriate assessment tools and interventions
- Collaborate closely with physicians, midwives and anesthesia for safe deliveries
- Perform and document thorough assessments, interventions and patient education
- Respond quickly and effectively to obstetric emergencies and escalate concerns
- Participate in Trinity specialty-specific competency testing and skills checklists
- Support families with clear communication, education and emotional presence throughout labor
Qualifications
- Active RN license (state of Ohio) — license and certificate verification required
- Certifications: BLS, NRP and NIHSS (all listed as required)
- Current fit test, 10-panel drug screen, color vision, and required immunizations/vaccines
- Experience or comfort working in Labor & Delivery settings (Labor & Delivery listed as core skill)
- Willingness to complete Trinity specialty-specific competency testing and skills checklist
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong labor and delivery clinical skills and maternal-fetal monitoring
- Proficiency with documentation, triage and handoffs in an L&D environment
- Ability to recognize and act on changes in maternal or fetal status
- Effective communication and teamwork with multidisciplinary staff
- Comfort with emergency response protocols and escalation procedures
- Patient- and family-centered education and support skills
