Roles & Responsibilities

• Attend and support high- and low-risk deliveries, stabilizing newborns immediately after birth
• Provide expert Level II NICU care including respiratory support (ventilator, bubble CPAP, high-flow)
• Manage TPN, lipid administration, tube feeds, and other neonatal nutrition needs
• Deliver postpartum couplet care—supporting both mother and well newborns when assigned
• Perform EPIC charting accurately and thoroughly to ensure continuity of care
• Collaborate with NNPs, respiratory therapists, and interdisciplinary teams to optimize outcomes
• Educate and support families through transitions, feeding plans, and discharge teaching
• Respond to changing acuity with sound clinical judgment and timely escalation when needed

Qualifications

• Active RN license (WA) or eligible to obtain WA license (facility willing to wait for licensure submission)
• Minimum 2 years of experience in Level II NICU (will consider 1 year if candidate has multiple prior travel assignments)
• Required certifications: BLS, NRP, STABLE
• Comfort and competence in postpartum couplet care and attending deliveries
• Experience with ventilator/bubble CPAP/high-flow equipment and troubleshooting
• Proven ability to stabilize and transition neonates, including feeders & growers and substance-exposed infants
• Ability to float to Mother-Baby as needed and adapt to unit workflows

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Nursing Diploma required
• BSN preferred but not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Neonatal resuscitation and stabilization techniques
• Respiratory support: vents, bubble CPAP, and high-flow oxygen therapy
• Parenteral nutrition: TPN and lipid administration
• EPIC electronic charting proficiency
• Tube feeding management and feeding support strategies
• Telemetry/monitoring awareness and neonatal vital sign interpretation
• Strong communication with families and multidisciplinary teams
• Ability to function independently in a 1:1 to 1:3 nurse-to-patient ratio depending on acuity
