Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality Labor and Delivery nursing care for mothers and newborns
• Monitor maternal and fetal status and intervene quickly to ensure safe outcomes
• Assist and support deliveries including vaginal births and C-sections, working closely with OB/GYN and anesthesia teams
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient progress accurately in Meditech/CPN
• Educate patients and families on labor, delivery, postpartum care, and newborn basics
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to coordinate care, escalate concerns, and optimize patient flow
• Adhere to unit policies and California Title 22 patient ratio requirements to maintain safety and compliance
• Contribute to a positive unit culture by supporting colleagues and participating in shift handoffs and float coverage as needed

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse with relevant clinical experience in Labor and Delivery
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience (as listed in the posting)
• BLS certification (required)
• Experience using Meditech/CPN EMR
• Comfortable working 12-hour night shifts and rotating weekends per CBA
• Strong teamwork, communication, and patient education skills

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in labor support, deliveries, and handling L&D OR-related cases
• Proficient in fetal monitoring and maternal assessment
• Experience with Meditech electronic medical records for accurate charting
• Familiarity with California Title 22 patient ratio standards
• Ability to prioritize, triage, and respond effectively in time-sensitive situations
• Strong interpersonal skills for collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and supporting families
