Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver compassionate, patient-centered care to a 24-bed Med/Tele unit with a 6:1 ratio
• Monitor and interpret telemetry strips to catch changes early and act fast
• Care for patients with CHF, diabetes, pneumonia, CKD and other Med/Tele diagnoses
• Manage CPAP, BiPAP and high flow patients with confidence
• Collaborate with PCTs, Charge Nurses, House Supervisors and Nurse Educators throughout your shift
• Float across all Med/Surg units and support PCU tele holds when needed
• Document accurately in Paragon and keep handoffs smooth and thorough

Qualifications

• Active RN license in Texas, or willingness to wait for your license to come through
• At least 3 years of Med/Surg Tele experience
• Current BLS Certification
• Comfort reading and interpreting telemetry strips
• Experience with CPAP, BiPAP and high flow patients
• BSN is not required
• Ready to work the posted schedule and every other weekend plus holidays

Education

• Common diagnosis / Types of patients chf, diabetes, PNA, CKD, m/s tele
• Experience or 'Must have' skills great communication and time management,
• Are RN's required to titrate drips n/a
• Common titratable &/or set rate drips
• Tele/Monitor Techs on this unit? Do RN's read strips? tele monitor techs monitor patients but RNs have to be able to read strips
• Charge Nurse/House Supervisor Charge Nurse and House Supervisors and Nurse Educators available
• Are there Nurse Aides on this unit/Ratios PCTs are present 12/1
• RT/Equipment (ie Cpap, Bipap, High Flow) Cpap, Bipap, and high flow patients
• Shifts & Scheduling 12 hour shifts scheduling is by manager, cannot guarantee block scheduling
• Weekend Requirement every other weekend required
• Holiday Requirement holidays are required
• Call or Standby Requirement n/a
• Floating Requirements will float to all med/surg units.
• Scrub Color/Dress Code Navy blue
• Unit/Department Specific Orientation Kurth tower is all med/surg tele and department orientation is completed.

• Excellent communication with patients, families and teammates
• Strong time management in a fast-paced Med/Tele setting
• Telemetry strip interpretation
