Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver exceptional bedside care to surgical patients recovering from major abdominal, plastics, ENT and orthopedic procedures
• Monitor telemetry and manage cardiac drips with confidence in a high-acuity setting
• Care for complex cases including Whipple abdominal surgery patients and step-down SICU transfers
• Maintain a 1:5 to 1:6 nurse to patient ratio while keeping quality and safety front and center
• Float to other units as needed and stay flexible to support the whole hospital
• Chart accurately and efficiently in EPIC while collaborating with surgeons, therapists and the care team
• Educate patients and families on recovery plans, medications and next steps
• Respond quickly and calmly to changes in patient condition in a busy Level 1 Trauma environment

Qualifications

• Active RN license in Texas or compact eligibility
• At least 2 years of RN experience, with successful travelers typically bringing 3 or more years
• Prior travel experience is a big plus and helps you hit the ground running
• Current ACLS, BLS and NIHSS certifications
• Solid cardiac drip experience is required
• EPIC charting experience required
• Comfortable floating to other units and working in a large, busy hospital
• Flexible with scheduling and ready to work every other weekend
