Roles & Responsibilities

• Welcome patients with a warm smile and get them comfortably seated for orthodontic treatment
• Assist the orthodontist chairside with bracket placement, wire changes, and adjustments
• Take and develop dental radiographs while following all safety protocols
• Prep and sterilize instruments, trays, and treatment rooms between patients
• Educate patients and families on braces care, retainers, and good oral hygiene habits
• Keep charting, scheduling, and supply inventory running smoothly so the day never skips a beat
• Build trust with patients of all ages, from nervous first-timers to seasoned retainer wearers

Qualifications

• Current Orthodontic Certification is a must for this role
• Active Maryland Dental Assistant credentials or x-ray certification as required by the state
• Hands-on orthodontic and general dental assisting experience
• Comfortable with chairside four-handed dentistry and instrument transfer
• CPR/BLS certification preferred
• Friendly communicator who puts patients at ease
• Reliable, punctual, and ready to jump into a supportive local team

Knowledge & Skills

• Orthodontic Assisting techniques, including bonding, banding, and wire changes
• General Dental Assisting fundamentals and infection control standards
• Dental radiography and digital imaging
• Instrument sterilization and operatory turnover
• Patient education and chairside communication
• Charting and basic practice management software comfort
• Strong organization and a calm, steady hand under pressure
