Registered Nurse - Med Surg Ortho
Location: Council Bluffs, Iowa
Start Date: 06-22-2026
End Date: 09-21-2026
Contract Type: Travel Contract
Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour shifts, 6:30 AM - 7:00 PM and 6:30 PM - 7:00 AM, self-scheduling with every third weekend requirement
Hours per Week: 36
Candidate Pay Rate: $62 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate care to diverse patients including post-surgical orthopedic cases, chronic conditions, and acute illnesses
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to deliver exceptional patient outcomes
- Perform hourly rounding and bedside shift reporting to ensure continuity of care
- Float to PCU and behavioral health units as needed while maintaining high standards
- Administer medications and monitor IV infusions with attention to detail
- Educate patients and families on treatment plans and recovery processes
Qualifications
- Active RN license in Iowa or compact state
- Current BLS certification required
- Ability to pass open-book skills exam with 90% score during orientation
- Valid driver's license for radius verification
- Flexibility to work rotating shifts and float between units
- Strong communication and self-direction skills
Knowledge & Skills
- Experience with post-surgical orthopedic patients and chronic disease management
- Understanding of IV therapy and medication administration
- Ability to read cardiac monitors and recognize changes in patient condition
- Comfort working with diverse patient populations including behavioral health needs
- Strong organizational skills for self-directed practice
