Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to mothers and newborns during labor, delivery, and postpartum
• Monitor fetal heart rates and maternal vital signs, intervening promptly when needed
• Assist with deliveries, including natural births and cesarean sections
• Educate new parents on newborn care, breastfeeding, and postpartum recovery
• Collaborate with obstetricians, midwives, and the healthcare team to ensure safe outcomes
• Document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately

Qualifications

• Current and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in Virginia or compact state
• Recent Labor & Delivery experience preferred
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
• Strong critical thinking and communication skills

Knowledge & Skills

• Expertise in fetal monitoring and interpretation
• Comfortable with high-risk obstetrical situations
• Ability to stay calm and focused during emergencies
• Excellent patient education and family support skills
• Proficient in electronic health records (EHR) documentation
• Strong collaboration and teamwork abilities
