Location: Petoskey, Michigan

Start Date: 07-27-2026

Contract Type: Travel Contract

Shift Type: 12-hour shifts, 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM or 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM, rotating days and nights, every other weekend, on-call as needed

Hours per Week: 60

Roles & Responsibilities

Provide expert nursing care to cardiovascular patients, including those undergoing complex procedures like PTCA, stents, TAVR, and MitraClip
Monitor and manage critically ill patients in the CVU, including post-open heart surgery patients
Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to deliver optimal outcomes in a Beacon Award-winning unit
Utilize advanced skills in CRRT, balloon pumps, and ventilator management
Educate patients and families on cardiac conditions and treatment plans
Participate in clinical research and national trials through the NISUS department

Qualifications

Active RN license in Michigan (or compact license with ability to obtain Michigan)
Minimum 1 year of recent ICU experience in a hospital setting (floating experience not accepted)
Experience with EKG interpretation
Willingness to float to similar units as needed
Skills checklist completed within one year
Preferred: Experience with neuro, CVICU, trauma, managing vents, CRRT, and balloon pumps

Knowledge & Skills

In-depth knowledge of cardiovascular nursing and critical care principles
Proficiency in EKG monitoring and interpretation
Experience with ventilator management
Ability to manage CRRT and balloon pump devices
Strong assessment and clinical judgment skills
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
