Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess nutritional needs for patients in a psychiatric correctional setting and create individualized care plans
• Develop and implement therapeutic diet plans that support medical and psychiatric goals
• Collaborate with nursing, mental health clinicians, and facility staff to ensure coordinated care
• Document nutritional assessments, interventions and outcomes accurately in the medical record
• Provide patient and staff education on therapeutic diets, feeding strategies and nutrition-related goals
• Participate in interdisciplinary care meetings and quality improvement initiatives to improve patient outcomes

Qualifications

• Active Registered Dietitian (RD) or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) credential
• Bachelor's degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or related field and completion of an accredited dietetic internship
• Current state licensure if required by California regulations
• Comfortable working in medical/psychiatric and correctional healthcare environments; prior clinical experience preferred
• Ability to pass background check and facility security clearance

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Nutrition, Dietetics or related field; accredited dietetic internship; RD/RDN credential

Knowledge & Skills

• Clinical nutrition assessment and therapeutic diet planning
• Experience with diets for medical and psychiatric conditions
• Strong documentation skills and familiarity with electronic medical records
• Clear communication and patient education skills
• Ability to collaborate effectively in a multidisciplinary team
• Time management and organizational skills for a fast-paced facility
