Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess patients’ nutritional status and develop individualized care plans
• Provide medical nutrition therapy and counseling for inpatient populations
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary clinical teams to optimize patient outcomes
• Document nutrition assessments, interventions, and progress in the medical record
• Educate patients, families, and staff on therapeutic diets and nutrition-related topics
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and clinical rounds to enhance care

Qualifications

• Registered Dietitian (RD) credential required
• Active state licensure or eligibility to practice as a dietitian in California preferred
• Clinical experience in acute care or institutional settings preferred
• Strong communication skills for patient education and interdisciplinary collaboration
• Current basic life support (BLS) certification preferred or willingness to obtain

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or related field and completion of ACEND-accredited supervised practice program

Knowledge & Skills

• Medical nutrition therapy and therapeutic diet planning
• Ability to conduct nutrition-focused assessments and create measurable goals
• Knowledge of clinical documentation best practices
• Comfort working within interdisciplinary care teams
• Time management skills to balance assessments, counseling, and documentation
• Culturally competent nutrition education and patient engagement
