Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist the dentist chairside with procedures, ensuring efficient and safe patient care
• Prepare operatories and instruments, following strict infection control protocols
• Take and process radiographs as authorized, maintaining high-quality images
• Manage patient flow and records with professionalism and attention to detail
• Educate patients on post-operative care and oral hygiene in a clear, compassionate way
• Maintain inventory and sterilization logs to support smooth clinic operations
• Coordinate with the dental team to support clinical goals and quality standards

Qualifications

• Valid RDA (Registered Dental Assistant) certification required
• Current BLS/CPR certification preferred or willing to obtain
• Previous dental assisting experience preferred; correctional facility experience a plus
• Ability to pass required background checks and site-specific clearances
• Strong communication skills and professional bedside manner
• Willingness to complete site orientation and follow facility security procedures

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Completion of an accredited dental assisting program or on-the-job RDA credentialing

Knowledge & Skills

• Chairside assisting and familiarity with common dental procedures
• Infection control, sterilization techniques, and OSHA standards
• Comfortable with dental instruments, materials, and tray setups
• Basic radiography knowledge and safe x-ray practices
• Electronic health record navigation and accurate documentation
• Time management and ability to multitask in a clinical setting
