Roles & Responsibilities

• Lead engaging therapeutic recreation groups tailored to participants in the Enhanced Outpatient Program (EOP)
• Design and implement individualized recreation therapy plans that support mental health goals
• Collaborate closely with mental health clinicians, case managers, and custody staff to ensure cohesive care
• Assess participant progress, document outcomes, and adjust interventions to maximize therapeutic benefit
• Facilitate safe, structured activities that promote social skills, coping strategies, and community reintegration
• Maintain professional documentation, adhere to facility protocols, and support program quality and compliance

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Recreational Therapy, Therapeutic Recreation, Recreation Therapy, or a related behavioral health field
• Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) preferred or equivalent certification
• Experience working in mental health and outpatient program settings, especially Enhanced Outpatient Programs (EOP)
• Prior experience in correctional, forensic, or institutional settings is a strong plus
• Strong group facilitation skills and experience developing individualized treatment plans
• Ability to pass required background checks, health screenings, and meet facility clearance requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Recreational Therapy, Therapeutic Recreation, or related field (required)
• Advanced certifications or relevant clinical training (preferred)

Knowledge & Skills

• Group facilitation and activity planning for therapeutic outcomes
• Behavioral management and crisis intervention techniques
• Treatment planning, progress monitoring, and outcome documentation
• Familiarity with mental health principles and Enhanced Outpatient Program (EOP) operations
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills when collaborating with multidisciplinary teams
• Cultural competence and trauma-informed care approaches
