Roles & Responsibilities

  • Provide chairside assistance to orthodontists during procedures, ensuring a smooth and efficient workflow
  • Prepare and sterilize instruments and equipment, maintaining strict infection control standards
  • Take and pour dental impressions, and prepare models for appliance fabrication
  • Capture dental X-rays and images to support accurate diagnosis and treatment planning
  • Educate patients and families on orthodontic care, including appliance maintenance and oral hygiene
  • Manage patient records and update charts using dental software such as Denticon
  • Monitor inventory and order supplies to keep the practice fully stocked

Qualifications

  • We're looking for an energetic, patient-focused dental assistant who enjoys working with teens and adults
  • Maryland Dental Assistant certification or licensure required (or ability to obtain prior to start)
  • Current CPR/BLS certification required
  • Prior orthodontic experience is a plus, but we welcome dedicated new grads with a willingness to learn
  • Familiarity with digital X-ray equipment and dental radiography protocols
  • Experience with Denticon software is helpful
  • Ability to stand for long periods and manage a dynamic schedule

Knowledge & Skills

  • Knowledge of orthodontic instruments, wires, brackets, and bands
  • Strong understanding of sterilization and infection control best practices
  • Excellent patient communication skills to put anxious patients at ease
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced team environment
  • Proficiency in dental practice management software
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
