Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist the orthodontist chairside during procedures, ensuring a smooth and efficient patient experience.
• Prepare and sterilize instruments and equipment following strict infection control protocols.
• Take and process dental radiographs (X-rays) as directed by the orthodontist.
• Educate patients on oral hygiene and post-treatment care to promote optimal outcomes.
• Maintain accurate patient records and update treatment charts in the practice management system.
• Manage patient flow and assist with scheduling to minimize wait times.

Qualifications

• Certification as a Dental Assistant (CDA) or ability to obtain prior to start.
• Current CPR/BLS certification required.
• Prior experience as a dental assistant, preferably in orthodontics.
• X-ray/Radiology certification in Maryland.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of dental instruments, sterilization techniques, and infection control standards.
• Familiarity with dental software and digital charting (experience with Denticon is a plus).
• Understanding of orthodontic procedures, brackets, wires, and other appliances.
• Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
• Excellent patient care and customer service skills.
