Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist the orthodontist during patient examinations and procedures
• Prepare treatment rooms and sterilize instruments following infection control protocols
• Take dental X-rays and create impressions for appliances
• Educate patients on orthodontic care and oral hygiene
• Maintain accurate patient records and treatment notes
• Provide a compassionate, comfortable experience for every patient

Qualifications

• Maryland Dental Assistant registration or certification
• Current CPR/BLS certification
• Radiology/X-ray certification as required by state
• Experience as an orthodontic dental assistant preferred
• Strong communication and patient care skills
• Ability to stand for extended periods and assist with chairside procedures

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of orthodontic instruments and materials
• Skill in taking diagnostic X-rays and impressions
• Understanding of infection control and sterilization standards
• Competency with dental software for patient records
• Excellent interpersonal skills and attention to detail
