Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist the orthodontist during patient exams, bonding, adjustments, and removals to ensure top-notch care
- Prepare and sterilize instruments and operatories while maintaining strict infection control standards
- Take dental X-rays, intraoral photos, and impressions with precision and confidence
- Educate patients and families on braces care, oral hygiene, and treatment plans in a friendly, encouraging way
- Keep accurate patient records and assist with charting, treatment progress, and lab tasks
- Collaborate with the dental team to create a welcoming, efficient, and positive patient experience
Qualifications
- Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) or state-specific certification as required in Maryland
- Current X-ray certification or willingness to obtain (Maryland state requirements apply)
- Previous experience as an orthodontic assistant or dental assistant is a plus
- BLS/CPR certification (or ability to obtain)
- Strong communication skills and a genuine passion for patient care
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, patient-centered environment
Knowledge & Skills
- Solid understanding of dental terminology, orthodontic procedures, and equipment
- Proficiency with dental practice management software and digital imaging systems
- Knowledge of infection control protocols and OSHA standards
- Excellent organizational skills with keen attention to detail
- Compassionate and communicative approach with patients of all ages
