Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist the orthodontist during patient exams, bonding, adjustments, and removals to ensure top-notch care
• Prepare and sterilize instruments and operatories while maintaining strict infection control standards
• Take dental X-rays, intraoral photos, and impressions with precision and confidence
• Educate patients and families on braces care, oral hygiene, and treatment plans in a friendly, encouraging way
• Keep accurate patient records and assist with charting, treatment progress, and lab tasks
• Collaborate with the dental team to create a welcoming, efficient, and positive patient experience

Qualifications

• Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) or state-specific certification as required in Maryland
• Current X-ray certification or willingness to obtain (Maryland state requirements apply)
• Previous experience as an orthodontic assistant or dental assistant is a plus
• BLS/CPR certification (or ability to obtain)
• Strong communication skills and a genuine passion for patient care
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, patient-centered environment

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid understanding of dental terminology, orthodontic procedures, and equipment
• Proficiency with dental practice management software and digital imaging systems
• Knowledge of infection control protocols and OSHA standards
• Excellent organizational skills with keen attention to detail
• Compassionate and communicative approach with patients of all ages
