Occupational Therapist - Skilled Nursing Facility
Location: Santa Fe, NM
Start Date: 08-17-2026
End Date: 11-15-2026
Contract Type: Travel Contract
Shift Type: Day shift, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM
Hours per Week: 35
Candidate Pay Rate: $60 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients' functional abilities and needs
- Develop individualized treatment plans to help patients regain independence in daily activities
- Implement therapeutic interventions using evidence-based practice to improve fine motor skills, balance, and coordination
- Collaborate with nurses, physicians, and families to set realistic goals and ensure holistic care
- Educate patients and caregivers on adaptive techniques and equipment to promote safety at home
- Document patient progress accurately and adjust treatment plans as needed
- Advocate for each patient's highest level of independence and quality of life
Qualifications
- Active Occupational Therapist license in New Mexico or eligibility to obtain one
- NBCOT certification as an Occupational Therapist
- Current BLS certification
- Previous experience in skilled nursing, long-term care, or rehabilitation settings preferred
- Ability to pass background check and comply with facility identification requirements
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to connect with patients, families, and team members
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of occupational therapy principles, assessments, and treatment modalities
- Understanding of geriatric rehabilitation and common age-related conditions
- Proficiency in documenting evaluations, progress notes, and discharge summaries
- Skill in adapting activities and environments for patients with varying abilities
- Ability to work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary healthcare team
- Compassion and patience when working with diverse patient populations
