Roles & Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients' functional abilities and needs
• Develop individualized treatment plans to help patients regain independence in daily activities
• Implement therapeutic interventions using evidence-based practice to improve fine motor skills, balance, and coordination
• Collaborate with nurses, physicians, and families to set realistic goals and ensure holistic care
• Educate patients and caregivers on adaptive techniques and equipment to promote safety at home
• Document patient progress accurately and adjust treatment plans as needed
• Advocate for each patient's highest level of independence and quality of life

Qualifications

• Active Occupational Therapist license in New Mexico or eligibility to obtain one
• NBCOT certification as an Occupational Therapist
• Current BLS certification
• Previous experience in skilled nursing, long-term care, or rehabilitation settings preferred
• Ability to pass background check and comply with facility identification requirements
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to connect with patients, families, and team members

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of occupational therapy principles, assessments, and treatment modalities
• Understanding of geriatric rehabilitation and common age-related conditions
• Proficiency in documenting evaluations, progress notes, and discharge summaries
• Skill in adapting activities and environments for patients with varying abilities
• Ability to work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary healthcare team
• Compassion and patience when working with diverse patient populations
