Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform Compensation and Pension (C&P) exams and Separation Health Assessments with care and professionalism
• Conduct interview-based evaluations and focused physical assessments including range-of-motion and muscle strength testing
• Document findings thoroughly and submit timely exam reports and any required addendums
• Adhere strictly to non-treatment exam scope — no prescribing and no treatment provided
• Complete required training and participate in onboarding to maintain program standards
• Communicate clearly and compassionately with Veterans to ensure respectful, accurate evaluations
• Manage follow-up administrative tasks related to exams such as medical opinions and diagnostic reviews

Qualifications

• Licensed Nurse Practitioner (NP) with current, active license appropriate for practice
• Clinical background in family medicine, internal medicine, orthopedic surgery, or general medicine
• Experience or strong familiarity with Compensation & Pension exams and separation assessments preferred
• Ability to perform interview-based evaluations and focused physical tests (range of motion, muscle strength)
• Must be within a 50-mile radius of the assigned city for per-diem or own-office options, as specified
• Comfort with required onboarding and credentialing steps and timely completion of training

Education

• Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) with NP certification, or equivalent NP credentialing

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in clinical interviewing and focused physical examination techniques
• Proficient in documenting clinical findings and writing clear, defensible exam reports
• Knowledge of C&P exam expectations and non-treatment evaluation boundaries
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage administrative follow-up (addendums, medical opinions)
• Good time management to complete scheduled exams and required paperwork within allotted sessions
• Professional communication skills with Veterans and program administrators
