Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered care to individuals in a correctional psychiatric setting
• Monitor and document patient behavior, responses, and progress accurately and promptly
• Implement care plans and follow treatment protocols under clinical supervision
• Use de-escalation and crisis-intervention techniques to maintain a safe environment
• Administer routine checks and report changes to the multidisciplinary team
• Assist with activities of daily living and therapeutic programming as directed
• Maintain clear, timely documentation and communicate effectively with custody and clinical staff
• Participate in orientation, ongoing training, and team meetings to support continuous improvement

Qualifications

• Current Licensed Psychiatric Technician (LPT) credential in California (required)
• Completion of an approved psychiatric technician training program or equivalent
• Current CPR/Basic Life Support certification preferred or obtainable upon hire
• Ability to pass background checks and meet correctional facility clearance requirements
• Comfortable working in a secure correctional environment and collaborating with custody staff
• Strong observation, documentation, and interpersonal skills
• Reliable attendance and commitment to the scheduled evening shift

Education

• Completion of a Licensed Psychiatric Technician program or equivalent
• High school diploma or GED

Knowledge & Skills

• Behavioral observation and mental health symptom recognition
• Crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques
• Accurate clinical documentation and charting
• Ability to follow care plans and clinical protocols
• Effective communication with patients and multidisciplinary teams
• Familiarity with safety procedures in a correctional healthcare setting
