Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, direct patient care to individuals with psychiatric needs in a correctional setting
• Monitor patient behavior, document observations, and communicate changes in condition to clinical supervisors
• Assist with implementation of treatment plans and therapeutic activities under clinical direction
• Use de-escalation and crisis-intervention techniques to maintain a safe environment for patients and staff
• Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation and follow facility protocols and security procedures
• Participate in team huddles, training, and collaborative care planning to improve patient outcomes

Qualifications

• Valid Licensed Psychiatric Technician (LPT) credential — California license preferred or eligible
• Current BLS/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain during onboarding)
• Comfort working in a correctional healthcare environment and following facility security guidelines
• Ability to work the assigned schedule (Thurs–Mon evenings) and complete a two-week training period
• Clean background check and ability to meet facility-specific clearance requirements

Education

• Completion of an accredited Psychiatric Technician program and LPT licensure
• High school diploma or GED required

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong therapeutic communication and patient observation skills
• Crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques
• Accurate clinical documentation and charting proficiency
• Teamwork and collaboration with multi-disciplinary clinical staff
• Familiarity with mental health conditions, psychotropic medication effects, and behavioral interventions
