Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care using the nursing process in the ER
• Direct and guide patient teaching, ensuring patients and families understand their care plans
• Collaborate with ancillary personnel and the healthcare team to deliver safe, high-quality care
• Respond quickly to emergencies and provide critical care to a diverse patient population
• Maintain professional nursing standards and comply with hospital policies and evidence-based practices
• Document accurate patient information and coordinate with physicians on treatment plans

Qualifications

• Active and unrestricted Iowa RN license (or multi-state compact license) - must be currently active
• Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC certifications are required
• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
• Experience is preferred but not required - new grads with an ER passion are welcome to apply
• Ability to work night shifts, including every other weekend and rotating holidays

Education

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong patient assessment and critical thinking skills
• Proficiency in the nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation
• Excellent patient teaching and communication abilities
• Knowledge of emergency nursing protocols and ACLS/PALS/TNCC guidelines
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced team environment
• Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR), such as Point Click
