Roles & Responsibilities

• Implement individualized therapy interventions following the occupational therapist's plan of care to help patients regain independence
• Document patient progress accurately and in a timely manner to support treatment goals
• Assist with patient and family education so they feel confident continuing care at home
• Communicate patient status clearly with the supervising OT to ensure the best possible outcomes
• Follow all safety, infection control, and compliance protocols to keep patients and coworkers safe

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program
• Active state COTA license or the ability to obtain one before starting
• Strong teamwork skills and a patient-centered approach to care

Education

• Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program

Knowledge & Skills

• Occupational therapy interventions and treatment techniques
• Patient care and patient education best practices
• Accurate and timely clinical documentation
• Teamwork and collaboration with OTs and other healthcare professionals
• Compliance with state and federal regulations and facility safety protocols
