Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, evidence-based nursing care to critically ill pediatric patients in the PICU
• Perform thorough patient assessments and monitor vital signs, responding promptly to changes
• Administer medications and therapies accurately, following unit protocols and safety checks
• Collaborate closely with physicians, respiratory therapists, and multidisciplinary team members to develop and implement care plans
• Communicate clearly and empathetically with families, keeping them informed and involved in care decisions
• Document patient care, interventions, and progress notes in the medical record in a timely manner
• Participate in orientation and ongoing training to maintain high standards of pediatric critical care

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio or compact RN license eligible
• Pediatric critical care experience preferred; PICU experience is a strong plus
• Current BLS required; PALS and/or ACLS preferred or willing to obtain
• Strong clinical judgment, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team and communicate effectively with families

Education

• Active RN license required; BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Expertise in pediatric assessment and critical care principles
• Familiarity with ventilator support, hemodynamic monitoring, and vasoactive medication management
• Skilled in IV/central line care, medication administration, and infusion pump management
• Clear, compassionate communication with patients, families, and clinical teams
• Comfortable using electronic medical records and documenting care accurately
