Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, expert nursing care to women during labor, delivery, and postpartum
• Monitor fetal heart rates and maternal vital signs, responding quickly to any changes
• Assist with vaginal deliveries, C-sections, and emergency obstetric procedures
• Educate new parents on breastfeeding, newborn care, and recovery
• Collaborate with obstetricians, midwives, and the healthcare team to ensure safe outcomes
• Document patient care accurately and maintain a calm, supportive birthing environment

Qualifications

• Active RN license in Iowa or a compact state (NLC)
• Current BLS, ACLS, NRP, and AWHONN/Fetal Heart Monitoring certifications
• Previous Labor and Delivery experience strongly preferred
• Ability to work 12-hour night shifts and rotate weekends and holidays
• Must pass background check, drug screen, and health clearance per facility requirements

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid understanding of maternal and fetal assessment
• Proficiency in electronic fetal monitoring interpretation
• Excellent communication and patient education skills
• Ability to stay calm and decisive in high-stress situations
• Knowledge of sterile techniques and infection control practices
