Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist the orthodontist chairside during procedures, ensuring a smooth and efficient workflow
• Prepare and sterilize instruments and equipment, maintaining a clean and safe environment
• Take dental X-rays and impressions with care and precision
• Educate patients on oral hygiene and orthodontic care to empower their smiles
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records and charting
• Anticipate the needs of the orthodontist to deliver exceptional patient care

Qualifications

• At least one year of experience as a dental assistant, with orthodontic experience a plus
• Current dental assistant certification or state registration as applicable in Maryland
• Radiography (X-ray) certification required in Maryland or ability to obtain
• Current CPR/BLS certification preferred
• Strong communication and patient care skills
• Comfort working an afternoon-evening schedule (12:30 PM - 8:00 PM)

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of orthodontic procedures, instruments, and terminology
• Skill in taking dental X-rays, impressions, and digital scans
• Understanding of sterilization and infection control protocols
• Excellent interpersonal skills for interacting with patients of all ages
• Ability to multitask and keep the office running smoothly
• Familiarity with dental practice management software like Denticon is a plus
