Roles & Responsibilities

  • Monitor patient vital signs, including blood pressure and oxygen saturation, before, during, and after oral surgery procedures
  • Assist with administering nitrous oxide and IV sedation under the supervision of the oral surgeon
  • Take and process panoramic X-rays to support accurate diagnosis and treatment planning
  • Prepare the operatory and instruments for wisdom tooth extractions and other oral surgical procedures
  • Provide compassionate patient care and clear post-operative instructions to ensure a smooth recovery
  • Maintain a sterile, organized environment and adhere to all safety and infection control protocols

Qualifications

  • Experience as a dental assistant in oral surgery or general dentistry
  • Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) or Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) preferred
  • Current BLS/CPR certification or willingness to obtain
  • Hands-on experience with vital sign monitoring, nitrous oxide, IV sedation, and panoramic X-rays
  • Comfortable assisting with wisdom tooth surgery and other oral surgical procedures

Knowledge & Skills

  • Strong understanding of oral surgery instruments and sterile techniques
  • Proficient in taking and interpreting panoramic X-rays
  • Knowledge of nitrous oxide and IV sedation protocols
  • Excellent patient communication and calming chairside manner
  • Attention to detail and ability to anticipate the surgeon's needs
  • Team-oriented with flexibility to adapt in a fast-paced clinical environment
