Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist the orthodontist chairside during procedures, including bracket placement, wire changes, and adjustments
• Prepare and sterilize instruments and operatories to ensure a safe, comfortable environment
• Take dental X-rays and impressions as directed
• Document patient care accurately in Denticon and support treatment planning
• Educate patients on orthodontic care, oral hygiene, and appliance maintenance
• Deliver welcoming, compassionate support to patients of all ages

Qualifications

• Maryland dental assistant certification/licensure as required by state regulations
• X-ray certification in Maryland
• Experience as a dental assistant, especially in orthodontics, is a plus
• CPR/BLS certification preferred
• Comfort using dental practice management software, with Denticon experience helpful
• Ability to work the afternoon/evening shift from 12:30 PM to 8:00 PM

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of orthodontic instruments and procedures
• Strong patient communication and chairside manner
• Proficiency in infection control and sterilization protocols
• Experience with digital radiography and dental impressions
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced dental office
• Familiarity with Denticon or similar charting software
