Roles & Responsibilities

• Greet and welcome patients, making them feel comfortable and informed throughout their orthodontic visit
• Assist the orthodontist during procedures, including chairside assistance and patient preparation
• Take and develop dental X-rays, impressions, and digital scans with precision and care
• Sterilize and prepare instruments, ensuring a clean and safe clinical environment
• Educate patients on oral hygiene and post-treatment care, helping them maintain beautiful smiles
• Manage patient records, treatment notes, and appointment scheduling to keep the practice running smoothly

Qualifications

• Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) or state registration as required in Maryland
• Current radiography/X-ray certification, with experience taking dental images
• Hands-on experience in an orthodontic or dental practice (1-2 years preferred)
• A warm, patient-first attitude with strong communication skills
• CPR/BLS certification (or willingness to obtain)
• Familiarity with dental software and digital imaging systems

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of orthodontic terminology, tools, and procedures
• Skill in tray setups, alginate impressions, and appliance adjustments
• Understanding of infection control and OSHA standards
• Strong interpersonal skills to connect with patients of all ages
• Organizational skills to manage multiple tasks in a busy practice
• Attention to detail and a focus on safety and quality
