Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide exceptional preventive dental care, including cleanings, oral hygiene instruction, and fluoride treatments
• Educate patients on oral health and disease prevention, empowering them to maintain healthy smiles
• Take and develop dental x-rays, ensuring high-quality diagnostic images
• Assist the dentist during procedures, ensuring a smooth and efficient workflow
• Perform oral cancer screenings and periodontal assessments to support early detection
• Maintain a sterile and organized operatory, following all infection control protocols
• Document patient care accurately and confidentially in electronic health records
• Collaborate with the dental team to deliver compassionate, patient-centered care

Qualifications

• Active Virginia Dental Hygienist license in good standing
• Graduate of an accredited dental hygiene program
• Current CPR/BLS certification
• Experience with dental software and digital radiography preferred
• Excellent communication and patient education skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong clinical skills in dental prophylaxis, x-rays, and patient assessment
• Knowledge of infection control and OSHA standards
• Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment
• Compassionate and patient-focused approach
• Good manual dexterity and attention to detail
• Basic computer skills for charting and scheduling
