Geriatric Nursing Assistant
Location: Bowie, MD
Contract Type: Per-Diem
Shift Type: Days: Not specified, 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM (Day shift)
Hours per Week: 40
Candidate Pay Rate: $16 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, resident-centered care to older adults
- Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, and mobility
- Monitor residents for changes in condition and report concerns to nursing staff
- Support mealtime assistance and safe feeding when needed
- Maintain a clean, safe environment and follow infection-control practices
- Document care accurately and communicate effectively with the care team and families
Qualifications
- GNA certification (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) required
- Current basic life support (BLS/CPR) certification preferred or willing to obtain
- Ability to pass background check and required health screenings (e.g., TB)
- Previous experience in long-term care or geriatric settings is a plus
- Strong communication skills and a caring, patient-focused attitude
Education
- High School Diploma or GED preferred
- Completed GNA training program
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of geriatric care principles and resident dignity
- Skill assisting with ADLs and mobility support
- Familiarity with documentation practices and basic charting
- Ability to follow care plans and work collaboratively with nursing staff
- Good observational skills to notice and escalate changes in resident status
