Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality direct and indirect patient care in the emergency department with compassion and clinical excellence
- Rapidly and accurately triage patients based on physical and psychosocial needs to prioritize care
- Communicate changes in patient status and diagnostic results to ER physicians and mid-level providers
- Respond quickly and effectively to changes in condition and to emergency situations
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members, giving direction to ED techs and registration staff as needed
- Operate manual and electronic medical equipment and perform IV placement and related procedures
- Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses clearly and timely
- Support a culture of teamwork, patient-centered care, and continuous improvement
Qualifications
- Current MT State RN license required
- Minimum 2 years of Emergency Room (ER) nursing experience required
- BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, ENPC required or must be obtained within 6 months of hire
- BSN preferred; Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) preferred
- Strong assessment skills and ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work some weekends and rotate shifts as required
Education
- Degree from an accredited nursing program required
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Emergency department nursing principles and procedures
- Triage and rapid patient assessment
- IV skills and experience with manual and electronic medical equipment
- Basic office skills and basic computer knowledge for documentation
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
- Comfort managing acute presentations and coordinating care under pressure
