Surgical Scrub Technologist - Operating Room
Location: Chicago, IL
Start Date: 02-23-2026
End Date: 05-24-2026
Contract Type: Travel Contract
Shift Type: Day shift, 11:00 AM - 7:30 PM; rotating weekends, holidays, and on-call (one night every 2 weeks, one weekend every 6 weeks); hours may extend based on case load
Hours per Week: 40
Candidate Pay Rate: $28 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Prepare the operating room for a variety of surgical procedures, including open heart and orthopedic surgeries
- Act as a sterile scrub tech, passing instruments and supplies to surgeons efficiently during procedures
- Maintain a strict sterile field and adhere to infection control protocols
- Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure smooth case flow and patient safety
- Participate in on-call rotation, responding promptly for emergency surgeries
- Document case details accurately in EPIC and assist with room turnover between cases
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a busy operating room environment
- Certified as a Surgical Technologist (CST) or equivalent
- Current BLS certification required
- DCI/BVP certification required
- EPIC experience a must
- Willingness to take call (one night every 2 weeks, one weekend every 6 weeks)
- Ability to handle fast-paced surgeries and adapt to changing case load
Knowledge & Skills
- Surgical scrub and sterile technique expertise
- Knowledge of open heart, orthopedic, and general surgical procedures
- EPIC charting system proficiency
- Strong teamwork and communication skills in the OR
- Time management and ability to stay calm under pressure
- Understanding of surgical instruments and supplies
