Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive respiratory therapy assessments and develop targeted treatment plans
• Administer oxygen therapy, aerosolized medications, and chest physiotherapy with precision and care
• Manage and monitor ventilators, ensuring optimal respiratory support for patients
• Evaluate patient responses and adjust therapies promptly to achieve the best outcomes
• Educate patients and families on respiratory care techniques, equipment, and home management
• Collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, and the multidisciplinary care team
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient progress accurately in the electronic health record
• Respond quickly and effectively to respiratory emergencies, including airway management and resuscitation

Qualifications

• Active Respiratory Therapist license in Virginia or eligibility to obtain one
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) credential
• Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association
• Prior experience in an acute care or hospital setting is preferred
• Ability to work flexible, rotating shifts, including 12.5-hour assignments
• Strong critical thinking, assessment, and communication skills

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid understanding of respiratory care modalities, equipment, and protocols
• Comfortable with mechanical ventilators, BiPAP/CPAP, and oxygen delivery systems
• Skilled in patient assessment and clinical decision-making
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Able to work independently while also thriving as part of a collaborative team
• Proficient with electronic health record (EHR) documentation
• Calm, adaptable, and effective in high-pressure situations
• Strong time management and organizational abilities
