Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver compassionate, expert nursing care to surgical patients before, during, and after their procedures.
• Assess and monitor each patient's physical and emotional well-being throughout the surgical journey.
• Maintain a sterile, safe operating room environment and coordinate the surgical team's flow.
• Provide pre and post-operative education so patients and families feel informed and empowered.
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and fellow nurses across 14 operating rooms, including coverage for C-sections in Labor & Delivery.
• Work in all surgical specialties except cardiac and ophthalmology, with a strong emphasis on vascular and orthopedic surgery.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of current Operating Room experience (required)
• Demonstrated experience floating to vascular, ortho, trauma, general surgery, robot, urology, and ENT (required)
• Previous travel experience (required)
• EPIC proficiency (required)
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications (required)
• Ability to scrub and circulate (required)
• Must have your own reliable vehicle for this assignment
• Active New York RN license and New York Temporary Health Care Service Agency License/Registration Certificate

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong OR nursing fundamentals with a focus on patient assessment and care coordination
• Excellent sterile technique and surgical safety practices
• Skilled in vascular and orthopedic surgical procedures
• Comfortable with EPIC electronic health records
• Experience with both scrubbing and circulating roles
• Ability to float across multiple surgical specialties as needed
