Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist the orthodontist during patient examinations and orthodontic procedures to ensure efficient, high-quality care
• Prepare and sterilize instruments, equipment, and operatory surfaces according to infection control standards
• Take and process dental X-rays, photographs, and impressions to support accurate diagnosis and treatment planning
• Use Denticon to manage patient records, schedule appointments, and document treatment details
• Educate patients and their families on proper oral hygiene and post-treatment care instructions
• Provide a warm, welcoming experience that helps patients feel relaxed and confident

Qualifications

• Certified or registered Dental Assistant (as required by Maryland state regulations)
• Current CPR/BLS certification or willingness to obtain
• Prior experience in orthodontics or a dental setting is highly desirable
• Comfort with Denticon practice management software is a major plus
• A positive, patient-focused attitude and strong communication skills

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of orthodontic instruments, sterilization techniques, and infection control protocols
• Skilled in taking dental X-rays, impressions, and intraoral photos
• Proficiency with Denticon for scheduling, charting, and patient data management
• Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
