Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist oral surgeons during wisdom tooth extractions and other surgical procedures
• Monitor and record vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, and oxygen saturation
• Administer and monitor nitrous oxide and IV sedation under the direction of the surgeon
• Take panoramic X-rays to aid in accurate diagnosis and treatment planning
• Provide clear, compassionate post-operative instructions to patients and their families
• Prepare and sterilize surgical instruments and treatment rooms for each procedure

Qualifications

• Certified or registered dental assistant (CDA/RDA) preferred
• Experience with oral surgery or dental assisting in a surgical setting
• BLS/CPR certification required
• Radiology certification for panoramic X-rays
• Comfortable assisting with IV sedation and nitrous oxide administration
• Strong attention to detail and a caring, patient-focused approach

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of dental surgical instruments and sterilization protocols
• Skill in taking vital signs accurately and efficiently
• Proficiency with panoramic X-ray equipment and safety procedures
• Knowledge of post-operative care instructions and patient education
• Ability to work calmly and effectively during surgical procedures
• Familiarity with oral surgery terminology and charting
