Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate respiratory care to patients across the lifespan
• Assess respiratory status and implement effective treatment plans
• Administer respiratory therapies, medications, and ventilator support
• Collaborate with physicians and nursing staff to optimize patient outcomes
• Document patient responses and adjust therapies as needed
• Educate patients and families on respiratory health and home care

Qualifications

• Active and unrestricted Respiratory Therapist license in Louisiana or compact eligibility
• Current BLS certification required; ACLS/PALS preferred depending on setting
• Previous respiratory therapy experience in an acute care or hospital setting preferred
• Strong critical-thinking and communication skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of respiratory therapy modalities including mechanical ventilation, oxygen therapy, and aerosol treatments
• Proficiency with electronic health records and documentation
• Strong patient assessment and monitoring skills
• Excellent interpersonal and patient education skills
• Ability to adapt quickly to changing patient needs and unit environments
