Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to medical-surgical and neurology patients from assessment to discharge
• Monitor and evaluate patients' neurological status, identifying changes and intervening promptly
• Administer medications, IV therapies, and treatments while prioritizing patient safety
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to create personalized care plans
• Empower patients and families with education about their conditions and recovery process
• Document patient progress accurately and advocate for the best possible outcomes

Qualifications

• Current and unrestricted Iowa RN license
• BLS, ACLS, TNCC, and NIHSS certifications required
• Prior experience in med-surg or neurology nursing preferred
• Strong critical thinking and communication skills with a passion for patient-centered care

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid understanding of medical-surgical and neurological nursing principles
• Proficiency in neurological assessments, including NIHSS
• Experience with acute care monitoring and patient education
• Comfortable working independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Excellent documentation and EHR skills
