Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate nursing care to orthopedic patients recovering from hip, knee, shoulder and spine surgeries
• Monitor and interpret telemetry readings, stepping in quickly when patients need you
• Collaborate with hospitalists, clinical supervisors and nurse aides to keep care seamless
• Float to telemetry or other medsurg floors as needed, bringing your teamwork wherever you go
• Document accurately in Cerner while maintaining a healthy 1:5 nurse-to-patient ratio
• Educate patients and families on post-op mobility, pain management and recovery plans

Qualifications

• Active RN license in California (or compact where applicable)
• BLS Certification (AHA preferred)
• 2-3 years of MedSurg/Ortho experience
• Previous travel experience required
• Comfortable with telemetry monitoring and passing a dysrhythmia exam
• A flexible, team-player attitude with a passion for helping people heal

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry interpretation and dysrhythmia recognition
• Cerner electronic medical record proficiency
• Orthopedic post-surgical care for hips, knees, shoulders and spine
• Ability to float to telemetry and other medsurg floors
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Knowledge of hospitalist and multidisciplinary care coordination
