Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a correctional medical unit, including assessments, medications, and treatments
• Monitor and document patient conditions in CERNER, ensuring accurate and timely records
• Collaborate with physicians and correctional staff to coordinate comprehensive care
• Respond to emergency situations and stabilize patients per protocol
• Administer medications and IV therapies safely, and observe for adverse reactions
• Educate patients on health management and preventive care
• Maintain a safe, secure, and compassionate environment for patients and staff

Qualifications

• Active California RN license in good standing
• CDCR or CERNER experience is required
• Experience in medical-surgical, correctional health, or similar acute care setting preferred
• Current BLS certification (American Heart Association)
• Ability to pass a background check and meet correctional facility requirements
• Strong clinical judgment and ability to work autonomously

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficiency with CERNER electronic health records
• Knowledge of CDCR policies and correctional nursing best practices
• Medication administration, wound care, and emergency response skills
• Excellent communication and documentation skills
• Ability to maintain composure in high-pressure situations
• Patient assessment and critical thinking abilities
