Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate care to mothers and newborns during labor, delivery, and postpartum
• Monitor fetal heart rates and maternal vital signs, intervening as needed to ensure safe outcomes
• Assist with deliveries, including vaginal and cesarean births, and provide immediate newborn care
• Educate patients and families on childbirth, breastfeeding, and newborn care
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to create individualized birth plans
• Document patient progress accurately and maintain a calm, supportive environment

Qualifications

• Active RN license in Iowa or compact state (or willingness to obtain)
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NRP certifications
• AWHONN/Fetal Heart Monitoring certification
• Experience in Labor and Delivery is preferred but not required
• Ability to pass background check and drug screening

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of maternal and fetal health
• Skill in interpreting fetal heart monitoring strips
• Excellent communication and patient education abilities
• Ability to respond quickly in emergency situations
• Compassionate and patient-centered approach
