Patient Care Technician - Surgical
Location: Sacramento, CA
Start Date: 04-09-2026
Contract Type: Per-Diem
Shift Type: Variable 4-hour shifts (exact start/end times to be confirmed), days may vary; orientation required; PCT shift type
Candidate Pay Rate: $25 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist patients with activities of daily living with compassion and respect
- Take and record vital signs accurately and report changes promptly
- Support nursing staff with bedside care, specimen collection, and basic procedures
- Maintain a safe, clean environment and follow infection control protocols
- Document patient care and escalate concerns through proper channels
- Communicate clearly with patients, families, and the care team to ensure coordinated care
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- CNA or PCT certification preferred or equivalent clinical training
- Current BLS/CPR certification or willingness to obtain
- Comfortable working with diverse patient populations and assisting with physical patient care
- Strong communication skills and a team-first attitude
- Ability to pass facility background checks and required screenings
Education
- High school diploma or GED; CNA or PCT training preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Basic patient care skills including bathing, feeding, and mobility assistance
- Vital signs measurement and documentation
- Infection prevention and safety protocols
- Familiarity with electronic medical records and accurate charting
- Time management and the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced setting
- Empathy, patience, and strong interpersonal skills
