Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist orthodontists with procedures, from initial exams to bracket placement and adjustments
- Prepare and sterilize instruments and treatment rooms for a safe, clean environment
- Take and process dental X-rays and impressions
- Educate patients and their families on orthodontic care and oral hygiene
- Maintain patient records and prepare schedules to keep the office running smoothly
- Provide a warm, welcoming experience for every patient
Qualifications
- Maryland Dental Assistant certification or licensure as required (or ability to obtain)
- Experience as a dental assistant, preferably in orthodontics
- A positive, patient-friendly attitude and strong communication skills
- Ability to stand for extended periods and assist with chairside procedures
- Current CPR/BLS certification is a plus
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of orthodontic instruments, materials, and procedures
- Understanding of infection control and sterilization best practices
- Skill in taking dental X-rays and digital impressions
- Proficiency with dental practice management software (Denticon experience a bonus)
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities
