Contract Type: Travel Contract

Shift Type: Night shift, 12-hour shifts, 6:30 PM - 6:30 AM, every other weekend

Hours per Week: 48

Candidate Pay Rate: $64 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Provide compassionate, high-quality care to adult PCU patients with diverse conditions including cardiac, vascular, sepsis, stroke, and renal failure
  • Monitor and interpret telemetry strips independently to catch any changes early
  • Titrate critical drips like Heparin, Nitro, Dopamine, Cardizem, Amiodarone, and insulin with confidence
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop and adjust care plans
  • Assess patients closely and intervene quickly in a fast-paced stepdown environment
  • Float to MedSurg or ICU when needed to care for PCU-acuity patients, ensuring continuity
  • Educate patients and families, promoting understanding and engagement in their care
  • Maintain a patient-centered focus, prioritizing responsiveness and clear communication

Qualifications

  • Active RN license in Nebraska (or compact state) - must be able to submit for licensure
  • Minimum of 2 years of recent PCU, stepdown, or ICU experience
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
  • Competency in arterial line management is a must
  • Experience with Epic charting is preferred
  • Strong physical assessment and critical thinking skills
  • Team player who's flexible, adaptable, and open to feedback

Knowledge & Skills

  • Drip titration expertise for cardiac and vasoactive medications
  • Telemetry interpretation and strip reading
  • Arterial line setup, monitoring, and troubleshooting
  • Working knowledge of high-flow oxygen and respiratory support equipment
  • Skilled in EPIC electronic health records
  • Excellent communication and patient education abilities
  • Cultural competence to care for diverse populations, including Hispanic and Somalian communities
