Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist the orthodontist during examinations and procedures, including braces adjustments and retainers
• Prepare patients for orthodontic treatment and ensure their comfort throughout their visit
• Take and process dental X-rays as directed by the orthodontist
• Sterilize and prepare dental instruments and equipment following infection control protocols
• Educate patients on oral hygiene and proper care of orthodontic appliances
• Maintain accurate patient records and assist with front office duties as needed

Qualifications

• Current Dental Assistant certification or willingness to obtain
• Experience as an orthodontic assistant, preferably with Denticon or similar dental software
• Valid radiography/X-ray certification in Maryland or ability to obtain
• Strong interpersonal skills and a friendly, patient-centered approach
• Ability to work flexible per diem shifts

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of orthodontic procedures and dental terminology
• Familiarity with dental practice management software (Denticon)
• Understanding of infection control and OSHA standards
• Excellent patient communication and customer service skills
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced dental office
