Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist orthodontists with patient examinations, procedures, and appliance adjustments
- Prepare and sterilize instruments and operatory rooms for each patient
- Take and develop dental X-rays and intraoral scans
- Educate patients on orthodontic care, oral hygiene, and treatment plans
- Maintain accurate patient records and digital charting
- Provide exceptional chairside support and ensure a comfortable patient experience
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED accepted)
- Completion of a dental assisting program or equivalent on-the-job training
- Current CPR/BLS certification
- Maryland dental radiography (X-ray) certification, or willing to obtain
- Orthodontic experience is a plus, but not required
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of dental terminology, instruments, and sterilization best practices
- Skilled in digital radiography and dental practice management software
- Understanding of orthodontic appliances, brackets, wires, and aligners
- Strong attention to detail and infection control protocols
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced clinical environment
- Compassionate and patient-focused approach
